Lorenzo Da Rio is the Chorus Master and one of the Conductors of the State Opera House of Hanover in Germany since 2017.
He also teaches choir and orchestra conducting at the "Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien" in Hanover Germany since 2022.
2012-2017 he was Chorus Master and one of the Conductors of the Opera Theater in Coburg, in the upper Bavaria ( Germany)
Born in Udine, Italy, in 1980, he starts his musical at the early age of 6.
After several years of private lessons, he is admitted to the music school of Udine, before moving to Trieste, where he graduates in “Organ and Composition for Organ” under the mentoring of Professor M. Girotto, as well as in “Choir Conduction and Choir Music” with Professor M. A.Martinolli d’Arcy.
In that period, he also follows courses of orchestra conduction at the Music Academy of Pescare with G. Sarembe, and at the Academy of European Music in Vicenza with G. Gessi and J. Kalmar
He then moves to Germany, where he graduates in choir and orchestra conductorship at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst of Mannheim, under the mentoring of di K. Arp e G. Grün.
During these studies, he also works as Kantor at the St. Josef Church in Mannheim, and as organist in several churches of the city.
In 2010, after competing against all the students of conductorship in Germany, he is awarded the scholarship of the "Dirigentenforum des deutschen Musikrats”, the most prestigious public foundation for the promotion of young conductor talents in Germany.
This scholarship enables him to follow classes with prestigious ensembles such as the NDR Choir (Radio station from Hamburg), the RIAS Kammerchor, The Philharmonic Chior in Berlin, the Singing Academy of Dresda and the Orchestra "Neu Ellbland" Philharmonic, as well as by the "Gächinger Kantorei" and the orchestra "Bach Collegium" of the Bach Academy in Stuttgart. Mentors of these advancements are S.Parkman, E. Klemm, P. Weigle and expecially H.Ch. Rademann.
Besides being in charge of the preparation of the choristers, he has conducted productions such as the Rossinis "Guillame Tell", the Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore”, Purcell’s "King’s Arthur" and "Dido and Aeneas", the operettas "Der Zigeunerbaron", "Im weissen Rössl" and "Der Vogelhändler", and the musical "Me and my Girl".
In 2014 he trained the RIAS Chamber Choir for a concert and a number of world Premiers.
In 2015 he was appointed to train the choir of the "Sommeroper" of Bamberg for Mozart’s "Zauberflöte".
